A DT Experience - Hurstpierpoint College

A DT Experience

As part of the Design and Technology Department’s work with the Hurst Education Trust (HET), they welcomed the first of four Year 5 groups over to Hurst to manufacture a simple electronic product.

Pupils from St Wilfrid’s Primary School had the opportunity to learn how to solder and populate the necessary components into a printed circuit board to produce a solar-powered light.  The pupils brought along a jar to house their light which allowed them to practice accurate measuring and marking out, so they could drill and fit their solar panel to the jar’s lid.

Later this term, the second Year 5 class from St Wilfrid’s will join the DT team, as well as other schools in the Hurst Education Trust: Albourne Primary School and Ditchling Primary School.
