Year 1 have been learning about seaside holidays in the past and had a visit from Ben Bamboozle with his Punch and Judy show.
They found out that Mr Punch is 362 years old and uses a special noisy stick in the show called a ‘slapstick’ and that this is where ‘slapstick comedy’ comes from.
They also discovered that 100 years ago, Toby the dog was a real dog, not a puppet, and Mr Punch had a very large nose so that it was easier for the dog to bite it!
Year 1 thought that the show was hilarious and even got to enjoy some plate spinning, magic, and juggling at the end.
