IAPS Swimming National Finals - Hurstpierpoint College

IAPS Swimming National Finals

12 swimmers (Allegra S, Henry W-S, Zara D, Tali J, Isla H-S, Clementine L-S, Chester H, Harry R, Hunter S, Luke W, Lois L and Ciara O) from the Prep School Swimming Team took part in the IAPS Swimming National Finals on Saturday.

The U12 boys relay team, consisting of Harry, Chester, Hunter and Luke had a very successful meet managing to finish third in the Medley relay and second in the Freestyle relay. In both cases, they mixed things up with the established heavy hitters of Millfield and Mount Kelly.

In the individual competition, Henry WS swam in the U11 Freestyle event, improving on his entry time by 0.87 seconds. Both Luke and Hunter made it through the preliminaries of the U12s Freestyle and Backstroke races respectively, with Luke finishing second in the Final of the 50m Freestyle, and Hunter winning the 50m Backstroke Final.

In the girls competition, the U12 girls relay team of Zara, Tali, Isla and Clementine gave a great performance in the Freestyle relay, following the disappointment of a disqualification in the Medley relay, by knocking a whooping six seconds of their entry time, placing ninth overall.

The individual swimmers were Isla and Lois both in the Freestyle races for U12 and U13 respectively.  Allegra in the U10s category made it through to the Finals, which is no mean feat given she was swimming against swimmers 2 years older than her and finished inside the top 10.  Tali had a great swim in the U12 Backstroke competition, against some stiff competition, while Clementine and Ciara both made their respective 50m Butterfly Finals, with Clementine placing ninth and Ciara finishing second in the U12 and U13 races respectively.

The boys’ performances were equally impressive, as they finished runners up amongst the U12 teams, placing Hurst inside the top 10 schools overall.
